The Special Education Committee is a division
of the PTA within the Mattituck-CutchogueSchool
District. Our committee brings together people
who are interested in special education and children with special needs. We are here for any
child receiving services: children who receive speech, reading, or language
tutoring, physical or occupational therapy, children with medical or allergy
issues, children receiving no services. We are here for children with learning
difficulties, physical disabilities and those who might be facing special
issues socially.
Mission Statement:
The Special education Committee of the PTA supports, strengthens and
promotes the educational and welfare of children with special needs, in
partnership with parents, teachers and administration.
We meet monthly. Our general
meetings begin at 7:00 PM. Our Autism group meets at 6:30pm. This group is for
parents with children on the spectrum.

Effective Communication Between Educators and Families is the Key to Succcess!
The training will identify the key aspects of collaboration and effective communication. It will focus on essential elements of team building and the concept of Communities of Practice. The importance of incorporating both family and professional perspective in the process of effective decision making will be discussed. Presented by the long Island Parent Center and Special Education Committee of the PTA
